The Panasonic DVX 100 was the first digital video camera that gave the user the ability to shoot in a 24 frames per second mode. While this may not seem like something that is noticeable to the human eye, it is.

Standard video runs at 30 frames per second, which is the look of live television and broadcast news. The varying qualities of an image have to do with the amount of information a camera can record per frame. High definition (HD) cameras record much more information per frame than standard definition (DV) cameras, which is why their images look better (and why they cost so much more).

Although subsequent cameras have improved somewhat on the performance of the DVX 100, it is still one of the better cameras for its price (which has dropped with those subsequent releases).
