BET HD Crew Demo
by Adam on Oct.07, 2009, under Blog, Crewing, Gear

We set up all the cameras on monitors so people could compare the picture quality of each camera.

We set up mannequins to simulate a multicam shoot.
We have a wide range of HD cameras and send them out as rentals or in crew packages. Our cameras include those that use tapes and memory cards. If you want a private demo, you can contact dv Depot and we’ll set one up for you.
You can see more pictures at our flickr site.

And afterwards, we shot a few games of pool. The pool table is not HD, but nobody seemed to mind.
Skoob TV Pilot

The shoot had about 15 different actors playing a wide variety of roles. This conference room scene was one of the more difficult for audio, but our DP and lighting crew came up with an easy way to light it using china balls hanging over the middle of the table.
People use dv Depot’s offices as a shooting location. We do a lot of simple ENG shoots with backdrops or in our lounge area. Recently, a group, Skoob TV, used our offices to shoot their sketch comedy pilot. They liked the variety of locations all within one office, using our kitchen, our gym, our basketball hoop, our offices, our lobby, our bar and our conference room.
We also provided the crew and equipment. The project was a challenge. There were 16 different skits with at least 38 set-ups that had to be shot in one day. We shot 41 setups and did not go a minute over on time. It was all thanks to a hardworking cast and crew. The cast from Skoob TV were very cooperative. Our DP, Andreas Wagner, stepped up and made shooting go smoothly. Everything was lit by our gaffer Tim Crook and our Utility Derek Edwards. They were actually lighting two or three scenes ahead and taking lights down behind us. Michael Solomon did our audio, booming scenes with 7 or 8 people improving on occasion. Nick Cretaro and Adam Rauscher were there from dv Depot to handle any issues with the location.

Our camera op Andreas Wagner used a handheld camera in a fight scene to create a kinetic look.

dv Depot has a small kitchen in the office, but creative camera work made it look like a full room.

Booming so many people had audio op Michael Solomon on a ladder for most of the day.
